Seeing Spots

I’ve started seeing spots and I’m bedazzled by the sudden wash of coloured, textural, head to toe, itsy bitty teeny weeny dots, monochrome polka dots, specks, supersized spots, intricate circular forms, or what have you, are at the forefront of every show stopping look and street style.

I’ve seen them scattered throughout super stores such as DJs, Myer, H&M, Zara. Featured by Seed Hertiage, Sheike, Carla Zampatti and Zimmerman.

Despite their quirky and whimsical reputation, spots are just as versatile as spring stripes. The trick to pulling off spotty sophistication is to:

Take note from these brands and create a coordinated matchy match attire, draped in a desaturated overcoat or trench for a truely glamorous look.

Trade bright colors for low key neutrals.

Alternatively work with contrasting hues and textured layers to create a sense of drama and whim. Think chestnut, orca, burnt orange and mossy green.

Pair an oversized knit, with a natural pair of slides to have you dressed and looking your best.

Or tone down that voluminous spotty blouse with blue washed jeans, and your favourite structured earrings for a casual look that showcases your air and grace.

Whatever your style, you can’t do wrong. Go out, experiment and have fun.
