Be Kind to Retail Staff

One of my biggest pet hates is random divas being rude to retail staff.

I saw it again only yesterday, when I was shopping with a client. The store was quite busy and seemed very under staffed, so my client and I were patiently waiting for a size.

When it happened. . . Bobble Head Barbie stormed in with her phone on loud speaker, loudly telling her phone-a-friend “it’s all ugly, like seriously, disgusting”. Yet, proceeded to click her long boney fingers at the staff member assisting us, basically throwing shoes at the shocked, young woman and demanding her size.

Sadly, this is not the first time, I have witnessed this. And it has not only ruined my shopping experience, but it has deeply impacted my client and not to mention the retail assistance.

I don’t think it is ever acceptable to be rude and so bloody obnoxious to anyone, let alone a young woman trying to do her job. Nor is it acceptable to disregard the other shoppers around you, throw shoes at the staff member or leave a pile of shoes you’ve just tried on as if it’s your own bedroom floor.

Perhaps if the shoe was ever on the other foot, this awful diva would understand what it takes to stand on your feet all day, serve (not be someone’s servant), whilst still being bubbly, courteous and giving great customer service.

Ok so rant aside, It’s so essential and very very important to be patient, thankful and where possible, leave the store almost how you found it. It takes another 2 seconds to place the shoe pairs back in their boxes, turn your clothes the right way place them on the hangers or in a neat pile, and thank the sales assistance for her time and energy.

This simple act of kindness works a treat and not to mention you’ll have good shopping karma all day long.
